China's Responses to US-dominated TPP
ANBOUND

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is generally considered as U.S.-dominated new trade club that excludes China. In this case, China's responses should follow the strategies: first, demonstrates neutrality rather than confrontation, accepts the possibility of participating TPP; second, China needs to find another way, for example, utilizes the strong trade position to establish closer bilateral or multilateral trade relationship with other economies (such as ASEAN), creates the pattern as "separately play" with TPP; finally, the external pressure can be used to motivate the construction of domestic market environment, improve intellectual property rights, fair trade, and strengthen market transparency and regulations.
