On 8 June 2023, Professor Maosheng Lai from the School of Information Management at Peking University joined 2023 Summer Workshop at ANBOUND in Beijing. We are much delighted that Prof. Lai shared his insights with ANBOUND's young researchers of cross-disciplinary programs for digitalization opportunities and challenging issues. This workshop was moderated by Yi Wang, Head of Global Development Program at ANBOUND.
Professor Lai, born in 1946, has worked for higher education over 40 years in China. His accomplishments are widely recognized in the field of library and information science as well as digital media literacy. He was Vice Dean (1996-2002), a doctoral supervisor (1998-) at the School of Information Management of Peking University and Director (2003-) of the National Institute for Information Resource Management (Beijing). He has been a visiting scholar (1989/1990) in Japan's Keio University and attended a research program (2008-2009) by collaboration with US and Chinese scholars to advance the field of community informatics led by the University of Illinois Urbana‐Champaign, Peking University and Nankai University.
Pro. Lai has published more than 140 papers in journals, delivered numerous speeches in research conferences, and engaged in sci-tech policy dialogues. He has been frequently quoted on academic publications and on the media. His research interests include information retrieval and machine learning, information resources management, information economics, information policy and law.
