What Is China's View on America "New Silk Road" Plan?
ANBOUND

In July 2011, the U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton officially proposed a Regional Economic Development Plan, "New Silk Road" whereby Afghanistan is chosen as the centre of Central Asia. Although the plan is relatively lower compared to “Pacific Century” on the strategic basis, it is still a significant development to the security issue in Central and South Asia. Research from ANBOUND shown that America's “New Silk Road” plan is not a static idea or concept as it is an on-going development. Since the targeted countries are geographically near to China, the issue of regional security is an inevitable apprehension to the Beijing authorities. In this sense, there is a need for China to pay attention and study the plan.
