The Trends of China's Future Energy, Minerals and Food Imports

Apart from becoming the "world factory", China's rapid industrialization and urbanization has spurred the country into the global consumer of oil, natural gas, iron ore and other goods. In recent years, China’s high grain demand has put China as a global food importer as well. As China becomes the world’s largest food importing country, China’s dependence on the world’s resources will undergo qualitative changes. It is expected that China’s energy and other resources security needs will in turn, drive China’s global and foreign policy strategies in the future. As far the wider world is concerned, such a trend will be the focus of China and the world’s balance of power game.
