China Should End Oil Import Monopoly to Assure its Oil Safety
ANBOUND
At present, China's demand for oil supply is increasing rapidly. In 2011, China’s oil consumption stood at 490 million tons, among which imported crude oil accounted for 254 million tons. China has entered into a stage where it is dependent on imported oil for consumption. However, China’s oil import is still being monopolized by China’s state-owned enterprises, a situation that causes the country’s passive position for its crude oil imports. Hence, the end of oil import monopoly would help China from being overly dependent on oil imports.
