Urban-Rural Development Should Not Be Done in A Rush

Different from the past, new urbanization is not merely about construction and enlarging the city scale but also involve moving the rural people into the city. During this process, the rural areas are facing the issues of social security shortfall and rural collective construction land transfer. Judging from Chengdu and Chongqing's comprehensive reform pilot areas of balanced urban-rural development, even though there are breakthroughs and improvements in some areas but there are still many problems regarding land transfer, protect the farmers’ interest, lack of public services etc. These problems restrict the urban-rural balanced development and will affect the new urbanization. Solving these problems has important implications to the future of new urbanization.
