ANBOUND: China's Tertiary Industries Are Suffering From Two Difficulties

According to the statistics from China National Tourism Administration, the scale of China's outbound tourism in 2013 reached new high but inbound tourism has sharply decline, thus making China the "largest tourism deficit country". ANBOUND think tank scholar highlighted that the severe air pollution and RMB appreciation are the main two reasons that contribute to the decline. In the long term, Chinese tourism may enter a slump and highly relies on domestic tourism. Tourism sector is the core representative of tertiary industry, the problems face by tourism sector will challenge the entire tertiary industry in general. It is anticipated to affect other industries such as investment the crucial driver for economic growth.
