Think-tank Scholar Cleared up Guo Shuqing
ANBOUND

Former chairman of China Security Regulatory Commission (CSRC), Guo Shuqing recently became the target of many rumors, which said he displeased certain interests. However, the truth behind his resignation might tell a different story. According to Anbound's famous think-tank scholar and the chief researcher, Chan Kung, Guo's real problem is that he "ran too fast" to control the policies. During 500 days when he was in office, Guo introduced a new policy in 7 days by average. Obviously, the frequency is too fast to match the market absorption capacity. As a result, the stock market declined 7%. Frankly, Guo is a talented and aspirational official. Chen concluded that some Chinese officials are overconfident on the policies and their self-abilities. However, the key is actually the order and systematic nature of the policies. Once the order is broken, the policies that are issued originally for resolving problems would create more challenges.
