Last month Obama expressed that U.S is ready to supply natural gas directly to Europe with the aim to reduce the dependence of EU countries towards Russian natural gas. From the point of view of ANBOUND scholars, although there is a strategic significance for US to replace Russia as Europe's natural gas supplier but the feasibility is quite low. Europe might be already aware that it is impossible to depend on the supply of natural gas from a single country, and alternative sources are inevitable trend in the future. In fact, both Europe and Russia do not want to end their energy cooperation right away because it might bring more harm than good to both sides. Therefore, they might eventually continue their cooperation after a few rounds of bargains.
